FAQ
Ordering & shipping
Where do you ship?
Hardware ships to US addresses only for now. Outside the US? Join the international waitlist and we'll let you know when that changes.
How long does shipping take?
In-stock hardware ships within 5 business days, with tracking. Orders of $99 or more ship free. See the full shipping policy.
Can I return something?
Hardware sales are final once shipped, but if anything arrives damaged or defective we'll repair or replace it. Digital sales are final too, but if a file is broken or doesn't match its description, we'll fix it or refund you. Details are in the refund policy.
Build packs & software
What's a build pack?
A build pack is everything you need to make one of my builds yourself: 3D-printable case files, wiring diagrams, firmware, a parts list with sourcing links, and a step-by-step guide. Each product page lists exactly what's included.
How do I get my files?
Right after checkout, download buttons appear on your order confirmation page, and we email you the same links. Each file can be downloaded up to 5 times. Nothing ships, and there's no wait.
What file formats are included?
Usually STL and STEP files for printing and editing the case, PDF guides and diagrams, and firmware as source code or a ready-to-flash image. The product page lists the exact files.
Do I need to buy parts separately?
Yes. Build packs are files only. The parts list tells you what to buy and where, and the product page gives an estimate of the parts cost.
Can I share the files or sell what I build?
Build packs are for personal, non-commercial use. Build as many as you like for yourself and modify anything, but please don't resell or publicly share the files. Open-source code or designs included keep their original licenses.
What if I lose my files or run out of downloads?
Email contact@syntropylabs.io with your order number and we'll send them again.
Will I get updates?
If we fix an error in a pack you bought, we'll email you the updated files.
Can I buy a build pack from outside the US?
Not yet. Checkout is US-only for now, including digital products. Join the international waitlist to hear when that changes.
Aether air quality monitor
When will Aether be back in stock?
There's no restock date yet. Tap Get back in stock alert on the product page and you'll be the first to know.
What's the difference between the assembled Aether, the Essential Hardware Kit and the Custom PCB?
- Aether (assembled): the finished monitor in its enclosure, ready to plug in.
- Essential Hardware Kit: everything inside Aether (pre-flashed PCB, Sensirion SEN66, 3.7" e-paper display, cable and screws) without the enclosure, so you can 3D print the standard case or design your own.
- Custom PCB: just the tested, pre-flashed board and JST GH cable, for people sourcing their own sensor and display.
Does Aether need an app, an account or the cloud?
No. It shows readings on its e-paper display and on a built-in local web page you can open from any device on your network. Nothing leaves your home.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes. Aether runs ESPHome and works with Home Assistant out of the box.
What does it measure?
CO2 (true NDIR), particulate matter (PM1.0, PM2.5, PM4.0 and PM10), VOC Index, NOx Index, temperature and relative humidity, all from a Sensirion SEN66 sensor.
Is it open source?
Yes. Source code, design files and enclosure CAD are on GitHub.
